Water Damage in Reston: Built Around Water

Reston was designed around water. FFXnow reports that its four lakes cover 125 acres together and were designed to capture and filter stormwater. Reston Now reported in 2017 that nearly 10 miles of degraded stream channels had been restored in the area since 2008.

The system has limits. On September 8, 2011, Patch reported 6.22 inches of rain in Reston by 6:30 in the evening, with roads closed and roof leaks at South Lakes High School and Terraset Elementary. And in 2025, FFXnow quoted a Reston Association environmental report that called much of Reston's stormwater infrastructure somewhat antiquated.

Inside the home, the usual sources are closer to hand: a supply line, a water heater, a washing machine, or a neighbor's leak arriving through a shared wall. In a townhome or a condo, water rarely respects the property line.

Whatever the source, the EPA advises drying wet materials within 24 to 48 hours. That is why we say call first!

Who Do I Call for a Sewer Backup or Water Main Break in Reston?

Your Questions

Water Damage Restoration Questions, Answered

How Fast Does This Need to Happen?

Quickly. The EPA recommends drying water-damaged areas within 24–48 hours to prevent mold growth.

Will Insurance Cover It?

Coverage depends on your policy and what caused the damage. We can bill your insurance company directly and help you understand the process.

Should I Call My Insurance Company or You First?

Call us to stop further damage, and call your insurance company to open a claim. Doing both early helps.

Can We Stay in the House?

Usually, yes. We'll talk through what makes sense based on where the water went.

Will You Have to Tear Out Walls or Floors?

Only what can't be dried or saved. We'll explain what needs to go and why before anything is removed.

How Will I Know It's Really Dry?

Dry to the touch isn't the same as dry inside the structure. We confirm the structure itself is dry — not just the surface — before anything is closed up, and we keep you informed along the way.
