Every Home Holds a Surprise — So We Always Have a Plan B
Once a home is opened up, there is usually something no one could see from the outside. We plan for that from the start, and when we find it, we do what is best for your home.
Black Mold in Falls Church Homes
The name "black mold" is usually used for Stachybotrys chartarum, which the CDC calls a greenish-black mold. The CDC adds that constant moisture is required for its growth. That points to something that has stayed damp, not a single spill.
Falls Church has plenty of places where moisture has had time. Winter Hill was first built in 1948, Pimmit Hills broke ground in 1950, and many houses in between are older still. Older plumbing, lower levels that were finished later and rooms tucked under additions are where we are asked to look.
You do not need a laboratory to tell you what to do next. According to the CDC, all molds should be treated the same when it comes to removal. What matters is how much there is, where it is and what it is growing on.
We protect your family first, then give you a careful removal plan and a clear price before work begins!
Do I Need a Test to Confirm It Is Black Mold?
Not necessarily. If you are confident of the cause, or it followed a specific event, and the affected area is clearly defined, testing is often not needed. The EPA says that in most cases, if visible mold growth is present, sampling is unnecessary. Post-remediation testing could, and often should, be performed.
What Does Black Mold Removal Cost in Falls Church?
Most mold remediation projects in our area fall between $1,800 and $9,000, depending on the size and location of the problem. For mold you can see, the estimate is free!
Should I Wipe It Off Before You Come?
Please leave it. Disturbing mold can spread it, and we would rather see it as it is.

Black Mold Removal Questions, Answered
Is Black Mold Different from Other Mold?
Many molds look dark, and color alone doesn't tell you what kind it is. For most homes the practical answer is the same whatever the color: it is growing because of moisture, and it should be removed carefully.
Do I Need Testing First?
Not always. If you can see the mold, a free estimate is often the right first step. Testing makes sense when you want to know about the air or about areas you can't see. Mold testing starts at $495, which includes the inspection, the first two samples, the lab report and a follow-up phone call. Each additional air or tape sample is $45.

Can I Clean It Myself?
Small spots are sometimes fine to handle yourself. Two cautions: cleaning without knowing why it grew often brings it back, and disturbing mold can spread it. A professional look at visible mold is free!
Is It Safe for My Family to Stay Home?
Many families stay home. The work area is closed off from the rest of the house, and we'll talk through what makes sense for yours.
Will It Come Back?
Mold needs moisture to grow. We'll point out the likely moisture sources — there's often more than one — so you can make an informed decision.

Does the Color Tell You How Serious It Is?
