A Mold or Water Damage Inspection for Bethesda Homes
Maryland does not send anyone to look. The Maryland Department of the Environment states that it does not have a program to evaluate mold concerns. The Maryland Department of Health's advice is that the best way to control mold growth is to address its underlying causes.
That leaves the looking to the homeowner. If you own your home, finding those underlying causes is up to you, and that is where we come in!
Bethesda gives those causes plenty of places to hide. Edgemoor was laid out in 1912 and Bannockburn dates to 1946. Meanwhile, Montgomery Planning reported in 2019 that of nearly 4,400 demolition permits for single-family houses issued in the County since 1990, 51 percent were in Bethesda. Old houses and brand-new ones stand side by side.
We look first at the areas you are concerned about, then at the places where homes most commonly have problems. You hear where the mold is and its likely sources, often more than one!
What Does a Mold Inspection Cost in Bethesda?

Each additional air or tape lift sample is just $45 each.
My House Is New. Is an Inspection Still Useful?
It can be. New homes are tightly built, older homes have decades of repairs behind them, and mold shows up in both.
I Can See the Mold. Do I Need an Inspection?
It depends. If you are confident of the cause, or it followed a single event such as a leak, and you can define the area affected, testing is not necessarily needed. Post-remediation testing could, and often should, follow the work. If you sense something is wrong with your environment but can't say what or where, testing is advisable to quantify the risk.
