Water Damage in Rockville: Know Which Utility Is Yours
Rockville has a detail most cities do not: two water utilities. The City's 2026 water quality report says Rockville's own system serves 70 percent of the city, and the Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission serves the remainder. It is worth knowing which one sends your bill before you need to call in a hurry.
The City has three main watersheds: Cabin John Creek, Watts Branch and Rock Creek. On its flood planning page the City says Rockville experienced massive flooding from Tropical Storm Ida in 2021. A Flood Resiliency Plan is now being developed, with public outreach running through the end of 2026.
The City also helps homeowners handle rain on their own lots. Its RainScapes program offers up to $5,000 in rebates for projects such as rain gardens and rain barrels.
When water does get inside, from a storm, a drain or a supply line, the EPA advises drying wet materials within 24 to 48 hours. Call first, and fill out forms later!
Who Do I Call for a Sewer Backup or Water Main Break in Rockville?

The Drain Backed Up but It Was Only a Little Water. Is That a Problem?

Water Damage Restoration Questions, Answered
How Fast Does This Need to Happen?
Quickly. The EPA recommends drying water-damaged areas within 24–48 hours to prevent mold growth.
Will Insurance Cover It?
Coverage depends on your policy and what caused the damage. We can bill your insurance company directly and help you understand the process.
Should I Call My Insurance Company or You First?
Call us to stop further damage, and call your insurance company to open a claim. Doing both early helps.
Can We Stay in the House?
Usually, yes. We'll talk through what makes sense based on where the water went.
Will You Have to Tear Out Walls or Floors?
Only what can't be dried or saved. We'll explain what needs to go and why before anything is removed.
How Will I Know It's Really Dry?
Dry to the touch isn't the same as dry inside the structure. We confirm the structure itself is dry — not just the surface — before anything is closed up, and we keep you informed along the way.
